About Morning Star

Dr. Alfred Young Man, Ph.D.
Chair
Native Studies Department, University of Lethbridge

"Almost immediately I felt a breath of fresh air rush over my psyche, my spirit, as if I were being released from the burden of carrying around all that death and incomprehensibility which anthropology and archeology seem to find so much meanings in and of, amongst the extinct cultures of the world... I came away from Alex's mural with a definite feelings that looking up, into the depth of that reflection of the First Nations soul, was the absolute saving grace of that museum, as if a radiant light was shown down upon me out of the darkness of ethnography, I was immentsely grateful to Alex for not only having been there to paint that mural for all the world to see but for shining some much needed light into the austere recesses of the very enignatic world of western science."

About Alex Janvier

Dr. Patricia Makokis
Blue Quills First Nation.

"He has served his community ( and all First Nations) as an ambassador. He never forgets all Indigenous People as he travels the world teaching and sharing his art expertise. He is a humble, caring man who has great compassion for all 'humankind'. He walks his talk; when he talks about the need for 'community healing', Alex speaks from personal experience as a residential school survivor. He is very in tune with the depths of athe multigenerational soul wounds of that era."
